About College

Agra College was founded by Pandit Gangadhar Shastri,an eminent Sanskrit scholar and astrologer in the service of Madhav Rao Peshwa of Gwalior, in the year 1823. The college is founded was affiliated to the Calcutta University, after that its affiliation was transferred to the Agra University (presently known as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra) since 1927. The college is awarded B++ by NAAC (UGC)

• The college was a government college till 1883
• Now the college is managed by the is managed by a Managing Committee, which is responsible to the Board of Trustees 1901
• The college offers Bachelor, Masters and Research Programme in the field of Arts, Science and Commerce
• The college also offers Law and Engineering Courses
• The Faculty of Engineering and Technology was also established in 1999, which offers Bachelor degree in Technology in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical Engineering. It is affiliated to Gautam Buddha Technical University, Lucknow
• The college introduced Certificate Courses under the scheme of UGC in Computer Application, Journalism, Bio-statistics & Industrial Application, Human Rights Education

Extra-Curricular:

• NSS – NSS of the college has participated in numerous activities and promoting awareness drives for the welfare of society. 150 volunteers took part in on-the-spot poster contest for environmental protection and conservation and education for all on 12th December 2012. The college provided training of Self Defense for NSS Volunteers on 30th Jan 2013.AYouth Leadership and People’s Skill Workshop was organised June 4th to 7th 2014
• NCC- NCC has 3 wings  with 420 cadets took part in various programmes like: Earth Hour Programme , A camp and rally was organized for people to get a Voter I.D Card made for themselves, A G.K. Quiz,  anti-tobacco rally
• The college has playground for indoor and outdoor games
• Various cultural activities are organized at state and national level. The college won Gold Medal At All India Inter-University Boxing Championship in 2013
• In-house workshops, seminars and discussions are organized in the college
• The college also organizes Community orientation programmes: such as blood donation camps, eye checking, AIDS awareness campaign, awareness about hygiene & sanitation etc.
