About College

Mar Athanasius College of Engineering revolutionised engineering education in central Kerala in 1961. Managed by Mar Athanasius College Association, Aided by the Government of Kerala, the college was first in Asia under Christian Management.

 

It was also the first engineering college to get affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University.  MACE, as it is popularly known, has grown by leaps and bounds since. It now has six full fledged departments apart from the two auxiliary departments of Mathematics and Humanities &Science.

 

The campus is spread over 25.3 hectares of land. The built up area is 12765.51 sq.m which comprises instructional, administrative and amenities. A large area of 14036.7 sq.m. is being is occupied by the workshops and laboratories. The various playgrounds take up an area of around 20000 sq.m.

Various Clubs at the Campus :

1.Literacy and debating club: The club has been very active since its inception. The club aims at developing the oratory and communication skills of the student. The club conducts debates and discussion at intervals and resource persons are employed to give training in public speaking.

2.Nature and photographic club: The club is actively conducting seminars, environmental education. programs, antinarcotics awareness programs, trekking, swimming and nature camps. We conduct programs in association with students amenities center of M.G University, Forest Department. Tourism department and environmental organizations like Green Peace. The club is registered under World Wide Fund for Nature. India (WWF) as Hombill Nature Club.

3.KRL-Encon club: MACE has been selected by Kochi Refineries Limited to become a Member of Encon Club, functioning with the main objective of creating awareness among the younger generation about the need to conserve energy and environment protection.

4. Tourism cIub: The Tourism Club is a institution under Ministry of Tourism, govemment of Kerala. The main objective of the club is to impress upon the youngsters and upcoming generation, the importance and relevance of tourism.

5. Audio visual and film club: The club regularly conducts video shows on advancements in engineering and technology. The club assists in the production of video documentaries, conducting cultural programmes etc. It imparts training for staff and students on various latest audiovisual equipments. The club actively involves in the maintenance of various audiovisual equipments in the campus.
