In 19th century, the societal and economic condition of the country was suffering and undergoing through massive deflation. Thus to address various problems plaguing the society, Mahama Swami undertook a movement namely Mahima Movement. Under this movement, Mahima Mahavidyalaya came into existence. This college was started with an aim to provide excellent academic services to the students. They tried to bring about a change in the society by educating children and giving them an opportunity to better their life. Many of the students who have passed from this College have established a remarkable position in their professional lives. The purpose behind the college was achieved by the selfless and devoted services of many people in and around the area.

1. Presence of clubs enhancing student confidence:
Mahima Mahavidyalaya believes in imparting education and knowledge to students ensuring highest level of quality education. The college has formed different groups namely, Youth Red Cross, National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps which prove to be an excellent way and platform for students. With 50 students each, there are three NSS units. A variety of projects are undertaken by the students. While doing so, care is taken that the studies are not hampered. Prizes and certificates are also given to the students who do a great job in this field. National Cadet Corps help the students to develop skills like character, leadership, sportsmanship, comradeship, and creating a well trained and disciplined manpower. Many students get an opportunity to serve under Armed Forces in the future who have been a part of NCC.
