Grandhi Varalakshmi Venkatarao Institute of Technology (GVIT), was established in 2008 by NRIs Mr.Suresh Grandhi and Mrs. Swapna Grandhi from Atlanta USA. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
- It is established in 10.28 acres of land and having 1.64 lakhs of Sq. infrastructure built up area
- Mr.Suresh Gandhi is a Project Manager in COREECS, Atlanta, USA who has vast experience in Software Industry in both in India and Abroad
- Mrs.Swapna Gandhi is a Senior Software Engineer, and has rich experience in Education Software
- It is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University (JNTUK), Kakinada

Centre for Bioinformatics Research & Software Development (CBRSD) has been established on Campus-
- Funded and collaborative research projects in the area of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Data Mining, Production Engineering.
- Financial support for the students and faculty to publish their work in good national and international journals / conferences.
- Research projects “FUNGRep: Database of Microsatellite Repeats from Fungal Genomes” (Co-Developed by IASMA Research Centre, ITALY).
- Research Project "Development of an Algorithm & Computational Analysis of Triplet Repeats in Human Genome" under FAST TRACK Scheme sent to Department of Science & Technology (DST), India.
