Birsa Institute of Technology is a Govt. Aided Institute which was established in 1949.
Formerly, renowned as Bihar Institute of Technology, Sindri but now Birsa Institute of Technology, Dhanbad.
- The institute is affiliated withVinobaBhave University, Hazaribag &approved by AICTE, New Delhi.
- It is accredited by the NBA, New Delhi.
- Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Ex. President of India has visited the college many times & on 52th anniversary day of the institute, he said BIT Sindhriis a “temple of modern India”
- It was started with only 3 professors & 60 students
- During the period of 1970-80’s, it produced best engineers
