Overview Information
About College
Established in the year 1993, VGSOM, is the first management school set up within an IIT system. Laded the foundation in 1994, Mr.Vinod Gupta, started this venture to train the technologically intellect people in terms of managerial skills so that they could fit best in any course of section in multinational companies.
- It is located in the green environment of West Bengal.
- It organizes various seminars, MDPs, conferences etc. for the betterment of faculties and students.
- In the year 2004 it increased the intake of the flagship MBA course to 120.
- In a step to move beyond traditional borders, VGSOM tied up with the Royal Danish Embassy, Dhaka in 2000 to provide MDP programs for mid-level managers in Bangladesh.
- Some of the recruiters of the institute are TATA, P&G, and Aircel etc.
Academic Overview: This college being an initiative by an engineer incorporates all the courses that will promote and hence increase the efficiency of a technical expertise.
- It includes the basic management courses like PGDM, PhD, Executive MBA etc.
- But along with these courses the college offers a wide range of short term courses which include the MDP courses on various subjects like Supply chain Management, Financial Marketing, Quality Management etc.
Extracurricular: VGSOM students organize various extracurricular events throughout the year. Some of them are following-

MADison Avenue |
It is an annual flagship Marketing event of VGSOM, organized by the MAD Club. This event was supported by a number of corporate-houses like Toyota, SAIL, Steris, Business Standard, Airtel, Chronon Technologies, Woodland, naukri.com, Tata Bearings, JWT, Travels4u etc. |

Vaarta |
Vaarta is a rolling Guest Lecture series held every year. Eminent guests from different areas visit the campus to share their knowledge and experience with the students. It provides a great opportunity to the students to interact with the guests and learn about new phases of life. |

VPL (VGSOM Premier League) |
It is a cricketing league of the school based on famous IPL. |

Accommodation |
There are 20(16 for boys and 4 for girls) halls of residents at IIT KGP. All MBA students of VGSOM are required to stay in the hostels. All rooms are provided with internet facilities. |

Computing Facilities |
The school has 2 dedicated computer laboratories which have Pentium PCs. The school is connected with the rest of institute with LAN. |

Sports and Recreation Facilities |
Institute provides many indoor and outdoor sports facilities including gymnasium, swimming pool. Except this various clubs and societies offer students a forum to learn liberal arts while pursuing their courses in the school. |

Festivals:

Kshitij |
This is the annual festival of the complete IIT Kharagpur campus. This is usually a four day festival which incorporates a large number of events including Monopoly, Math Challenge, Cryptex, Mind Sport etc. The sponsors of this festival vary every year but TATA, Boeing and United Heath Group remains their all-time sponsors, supporting them at every phase of the festival. |

Spring Fest |
It is annual social and cultural festival of the institute which has a glorious history. It is held in third week of January every year. |

Vinculum |
Vinculum, the annual day celebrations of VGSoM, is a unique initiative in which the whole VGSOM family comes together to celebrate the spirit of collaboration and the essence of being a VGSoMite. |

Saamanjasya |
It is a social fest aimed at building and encouraging a corporate-NGO-academic relationship. |

Purvodaya |
It is the flagship Business fest of VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur. It is a three day event incorporating a mixture of events across all the trades and domains. |
