University college of Medical Sciences, popularly known as UCMS, recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), was established in 1971. The classes began in the Department of Chemistry in Delhi University, North Campus, by the constant efforts made by the Health Ministry of Delhi. It had its clinical postings at Meerut Medical College, which later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital and finally it is associate with Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital

There is a central library and 17 departmental libraries in the college premises. The collection comprises mainly books, journals, theses, CDs, e-Journals etc. The library offers various facilities such as Membership, borrowing, reference, referral, photocopying, internet facility etc. The reading room is available at every hour of the day. Medicomasti– It is the youth festival at the Perfect Health Mela organised by the Heart Care Foudation of India and MTNL.
Ripple (UCMS)- Ripple is the annual cultural, literary and sports festival of University College of Medical Sciences. It is organized in the second week of March each year for four days. People from MAMC, LHMC, VMMC, other Delhi University colleges, IIT and Indraprastha University colleges come and participate in the events. The complete budget of the festival is raised from College Cultural Fund and various sponsors. This festival has many events which are classified in the domains specified:
Avalanche UCMS- It is the annual autumn cultural, literary and sports festival of University College of Medical Sciences . It is organized in the last week of September each year for two days. This festival is exactly similar to the Ripple which s organized annually. All the activities and domains remains the same and the same fun is there.
