Stanley Medical College, Tamil Nadu was founded in 1938, while its original hospital is more than 200 years old. The government medical college was placed on rank 9th by NDTV on the ranking of best medical colleges in the country. Late. Dr. T. Thomas, India’s first cardio-thoracic surgeon did his training at Stanley Medical College. The government hospital associated to the college has 1280 beds for in-patient treatment and has an out-patient attendance of more than 5000 patients daily.
