About College

Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College is a Deemed to be University declared Under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, 25th May 2007, MHRD, Government of India.
•    The Medical Council of India granted recognition to the college for imparting education at Undergraduate level in its very first Inspection in the year 1992, which shows the commitment of The Trust & Faculty, in imparting Quality Medical Education.
•    Post Graduate Degree Courses & Diploma Courses are being presented ever since 1997 in several Clinical, Pre & Para Clinical courses .
•    The trust has obtained Accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC, INDIA) and certification by ISO 9001-2000 in the year 2006 for its Medical College. Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College is one of the few Medical Colleges in India to have achieved this.
•    A fully integrated, modular curriculum within the regulation of Medical Council of India is under preparation.
•    The University office and the constituent college are located at Tamaka village, Kolar and spread over almost 100 acres of lush green campus.
•    The college is planning to start doctoral programmes in Microbiology, Biochemistry, & fellowship programme in Head & Neck Onco- Surgery.
•    The institution has a distinct division of accreditation by NAAC India & certification by ISO 9001-2000.
•    Its prime aim is to create trained manpower of professionals so as to serve the nation & deliver amenities to the deprived rural population.
•    The University and the Medical College has covered total area of 85, 000 sq.mtrs.
•    Highly qualified and dedicated faculty to deliver high quality education to the students.

The college conducts medical courses at post-graduate , under-graduate and post-graduate diploma levels and plans to start doctoral programs in Microbiology , Biochemistry, and fellowship program in head and Neck Onco-Surgery.

The Library is fully Airy & well stocked with reference books, textbooks,  6500 volumes of Journals & 
71 national and 38 international. Printing, scanning and Xerox facilities are also available. The Digital 
Library has 40 computers, with internet and medical database facilities

 Research Facility
The Department of Forensic Medicine has established a new Poison Detection Laboratory. The 
Department of Anatomy has a cadaver bank. The modern laboratories of Physiology, Biochemistry, 
Microbiology and Pathology fulfill the needs of the students and the teaching hospital

The Lecture & Seminar halls for every Department are air-conditioned & equipped with 
Latest Audio-Visual Aids.

Auditorium
There is an acoustically built well - furnished air conditioned 400 seats Auditorium for the purpose
 of conduct of seminars, symposia, workshops, CME programs etc. The university has taken up the
 construction of modern centrally air-conditioned new Library cum Auditorium building which is 
expected to be ready soon.

The University offers scholarships for meritorious and other Backward Class (OBC) students.
 Each year, 20 such scholarships are offered for under graduates of each batch, 10 scholarships
For meritorious students in the name of Late Sri.Ramakrishna Hegde, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and another.

• 10 scholarships for Other Backward Class (OBC) students in the name of Late Sri. Devaraj Urs, former Chief Minister of Karnataka.
• In the fifth year 50 meritorious students and 50 Other Backward Class students will be getting the scholarship at the rate of Rs.25,000/- each. The scholarship amount will be distributed to the beneficiaries during the graduation day ceremony every year.
