About College
Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University was established in the Tirur, Malappuram District of Kerela by Government of India to promote the language, history, culture, heritage and lifestyle of Kerala. It was named after Thunchath Ezhuthachan who was also known as "The Father of Malayalam language". In 2012 The University was inaugurated by Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala. In 2013, the university stated its academic activities in its campus named, Aksharam and in 2014 a new spacious academic block was constructed. It offers Master and Diploma courses in Malayalam language, literature, media, humanities and the social sciences through the medium of Malayalam. The university also known as Malayalam University.Its aim isto provide education on Kerala’s heritage, traditional knowledge systems, cultural anthropology and media studies with modern technical knowledge.It is undertaking research programmes in the areas of Malayalam language and linguistics, Malayalam literature, Malayalam diction comparative literature, other forms of cultural expressions particular to Kerala, contemporary cultural issues.

Admission criteria for Diploma courses is 10+2 or High School Senior Secondary exam by the CBSE or any equivalent exam conducted by any State Board or Equivalent. All SC, ST candidates have a relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate.
