Karnataka Janpada Vishwavidyalaya, Haveri also known as Karnataka Folklore University was established by the Act of 2011 of Government of Karnataka to develop Kannada folkloristic on scientific principles. At present, it is the only university offering advanced studies to the students of folklore. The university has given a boost to the Kannada culture which can be followed by other linguistic states of India. It is situated at Gotagodi surrounded by Sahyadri range on the west and Northern Maidan on the east.
