About College

The K S Hegde Medical Academy, commonly referred to as KSHEMA, is a medical college in Deralakatte, near the city of Mangalore. It is managed by the Nitte education trust, which runs numeral professional colleges in the state of Karnataka. The colleges offer an MBBS course along with post-graduation courses.

• The Academy was allied to RGUHS (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences) till 2009; currently it is affiliated to NITTE University.
• Established in 1999, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) became an essential Nitte University in 2009.
• The Institution is named after its founder, Late Justice K S Hegde, prior Speaker of the Lok Sabha and former Justice of the Supreme Court of India.
• The Institution offers MD/MS and MBBS programs known by the Medical Council of India.
• It also offers B. Sc courses in Medical Imaging Technology and Operation Theatre Technology.
• Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, the 1000 bed teaching hospital attached to the Institution.

The KS Hegde Medical Academy is located at Deralakatte, a picturesque town about 13 km from Mangalore. The full fledged academy is spread over 0.5 acres (2,000 m2) of land.

• COLLEGE DAY CELEBRATION

College day celebration was organized by the Medical College.

• ONAM celebrations

Onam celebration was organized by the Medical college. Pukulum competition was conducted

during the occasion and delicacies as served on this occasion.

• AATI DA GAMMAT
  Women Guidance Cell and Women Rights Commission Cell celebrated the end of monsoon by

having a great finale of “AATI DA GAMMAT”. 

• Report of Inauguration of World Breast Feeding Week
  Dept of Pediatrics at KSHEMA celebrated the World Breastfeeding week on August 2nd with

healthy participation from the faculty, MBBS undergraduates, postgraduates from various branches,

 nursing faculty & staff.

• IAP Pediatrics Quiz for undergraduates
  The college round of IAP undergraduate Pediatrics quiz programme under the aegis of

department of Pediatrics, KSHEMA & IAP Dakshina Kannada Chapter.

• K. S. HEGDE MEDICAL ACADEMY, DERALAKATTE VANAMAHOTSAVA PROGRAMME
  The Vanamotsava programme was organized at K. S. Hegde Medical Academy along with the NSS

 Unit of the college at the Herbal Medicine garden of the college.

• NITTE has introduced a SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME and commendable students seeking admission to

            Degree courses in Physiotherapy, Nursing, Bio-Medical Science, Pharmacy and Journalism & Mass

            Communication.

• The fee concession is based on  marks obtained at 10+2 level  in the optional subjects   (Physics,

Chemistry & Biology) for different courses.
