About College

Government Medical College, Surat was established in 1964 and recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI). It is affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and approved by University Grant Commission (UGC), India. It is also an ISO 15189:2007 Certified Institute and accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), Department of Science & Technology, India. It is a tertiary care teaching hospital spread over 130 acres and located at the heart of Diamond City of Gujarat. The objective of the college is imparting medical education and for extending tertiary level care for the patients of South Gujarat and surrounding regions.

Auditorium

The college has a huge and spacious multipurpose air-conditioned auditorium at its main entrance.

The institute has a lecture hall with seating capacity of 200 persons.

Laboratory

All the laboratories are well equipped with latest tools and techniques.

The institute has fully air conditioned library -

Hospital

New Civil Hospital which is a part of the college with 1150 bed capacity has all the modern medical facilities.

  • ‘Best Paper Award’ to Dr. Hetal Niak, Dr. K Adnani, Dr. T M Solu, Dr. Hetal Yagnik In Community Ophthalmology section, AIOS, Hyderabad for their work on ‘Ocular Manifestations in Acute Phase of Leptospirosis’

  • Received Trophy from ‘Thalessemia Awareness Program Gujarat’ to provide free blood to Thalessemia patients during year 2013-14

  • Awarded Prime Minister’s Award for ‘Excellence in Public Administration’ under ‘Sickle Cell Anemia Control Program’ for year 2009-10 for its Outstanding Performance

  • Ex Professor and Head Dr. V.V.Kelkar has won the prestigious B.C.Roy Award for his contribution in the field of basic science

      The government will give job in some areas which you may like or not but most doctor manage to start private hospital or work in provate hospital also no placement is done as i know now.
