Gandhi Medical College was established in 1954 and inaugurated by the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The college offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses
- The college enrolled 200 students in MBBS every year
- Admission in MBBS course is based on ranks obtained in the EAMCET (Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test) and to PG courses is based on AP medical post-graduation test
- The hospital has 1200 beds and performs about 80,000 outpatient consultations and 42,000 inpatient admissions yearly
- The college is recognized by Medical Council of India since 1956
- The college introduced MD (General Medicine) in the year 1977
- The college enrolled 150-200 students in MBBS
