About College
The Calicut Medical College was founded as the 2nd medical college in 1957 in Kerala. Since then the institution has grown into a leading center of medical education in the state. It is affiliated to the University of Calicut and serves 2/5 of the population of Kerala.
• The College was opened by Sri. E. M. S, Chief Minister, Kerala state on 15th March, 1959.
• The annual intake of undergraduate students was increased from 50 to 200.
• During the last decade almost all modern specialty services in medical centre have been developed in the college facilities for Whole Body Scan & Kidney Transplant.
• Well-equipped Tele Cobalt Therapy & Cath Labs are latest additions to the hospital complex.
• It started as a 100 bedded specialty hospital for respiratory diseases.
• A well-equipped Medical Education Unit was also started. The Dental College which was earlier attached to Medical College has been separated and is functioning independently.
• The college also conducts in Pharmacy, Nursing, Lab technician training, training of Radiological Assistants and Ophthalmic Assistants. MSc
• The college has facilitated computer facility in Medical library & all departmental laboratories.
• The college is sprawled over an extensive area of 270 acres (1.1 km²) and is located about 10 km east from the heart of Calicut city.
Alumni
The Calicut Medical College also has a strong alumni Association.
• Dr.Vinod Scaria of 42nd batch has been recently in news for sequencing the human genome for the first time in India
In affiliation with University of Calicut and Kerala University of Health Sciences, it offers various under graduate, Diploma and post graduate courses.

Awarded to the MBBS student of Calicut Medical College ,securing highest marks in Community
Medicine Examination of Calicut University.
• KVYP(Kishore Vyjnanic Yojanan Prakashan) Scholarship:
Students are encouraged to do short term research projects and trained to get acquainted with
research activities. These project reports are submitted to ICMR for eligibility to gain the
KVYP scholarship.
