The Advanced Center for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), which has the mandate to function as national centre for research, treatment and education in cancer is R & D satellite of Tata Memorial Centre and comes under Tata Memorial Hospital. This, autonomous and grant-in-aid institution comes under the Department of Atomic Energies, Government of India and the governing council is headed by the Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission. It has two different arms focusing on basic research and clinical research.
