Aarupadai Veedu Medical College, Pondicherry commenced its journey in 2000 with the first batch of 100 MBBS students. The Hon’ble Chairman Dr.A.Shanmugasundaram, a renowned philanthropist, established the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust in 1981 to serve the society which established this institute.

· Faculty of Allied Health sciences: Faculty of Allied Health sciences started in the AV-Medical College and Hospital campus in the year 2003. It started with Dept. of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology and now has 4 departments catering to 7 courses at Diploma, Bachelors and M.Phil level.
