Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose College is a reputed Under-Graduate degree college affiliated with the University of Calcutta, India. It is named after the celebrated scientist Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose. It has been providing good education to for many years. The aim of the college is not just to prepare a student for fetching professionally competent and technically skilled, but also to instill a sense of social responsiveness in them

• It is one of the best government colleges of Kolkata in present time. It was established in 1969 as one of two colleges by the name of Birla College of Science and Birla College of Education
• Located at 1/1B, A.J.C. Bose Road, Kolkata, West Bengal, the University of Calcutta granted affiliation w.e.f. 1968-69 sessions to this college
• The college is a Govt. assisted Educational institution under the pay packet system of the State Govt. of West Bengal, India, accredited by NAAC and affiliated to Calcutta University
• The college is also listed for grants under the 2(f) & 12(B) scheme of the University Grants Commission, Govt. of India in 1968
• In 1995, the college also approved by National Council for Teacher’ Education for its B.ed course
• The college has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India (NAAC) with C Grade having CGPA: 1.89 as per Accreditation 47th EC on 29 January 2009
• The AJC Bose College, offers several facilities to its students so that they can pursue their courses without any obstruction and achieve the goal of their life through the education offered by it. The aim of the college is to provide the necessary resources which will be required in the curriculum

The college has Digitalized Central Library well equipped with all the good books of the different subjects taught here

• The library is equipped with 20,000 books of all subjects providing a lot of variety to students
• There are different 67 journals, 6 newspapers, periodicals and magzines available in the library to increase knowledge of the student
• The library has a lending facility for a fixed period of time so that the student can study at home also

Extra-Curricular:

Besides high quality education, the college focuses on extracurricular activities. The college encourages its students to participate in other activities that are organized from time to time. There are various activities throughout the year in which students participate

• Cultural activities like dance, singing, painting, etc are organized
• Students’ union organize various programmes like Freshers’ day, Educational Excursion etc.
• The college also organize seminars like Seminar on Mushroom Cultivation
• NSS,organise various programmes for social upliftment like Blood Donation Camp, Community Outreach Activities etc. The officials of NSS guide the students through various activities in which the students perform with zeal

Festival:

• Basant Utsav, a cultural programme , celebrated every year in the college
