Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC), Jalpaiguri is a premier Engineering College in the State of West Bengal. JGEC is the second oldest of all technical institutions beside the Bengal Engineering and Science University(formerly Bengal Engineering College,Shibpur) in the state of West Bengal. At the time of its inception, JGEC was affiliated to the Calcutta University. 

 For the period between 1963 and 1999, the college was affiliated to the University of North Bengal, which handed over the rich mantle of technical excellence to the West Bengal University of Technology, founded under the West Bengal University of Technology Act, 2000. From then on, JGEC has gone from strength to strength providing essential manpower to harness the flood of opportunities in the fields of engineering and technology in the state and beyond.
