Avadh Girls' Degree college was founded in 1958 as Loreto Degree College and it was taken over by the Avadh Educational Society in 1976. Today, it is a leading institution, having notable value based education to the students for over five decades.
The College focuses on curricular and extra curricular activities. Higher authorities like dean directly take care of the academic and extra academic activities of the students.
Different functions are organized time to time by the various clubs during the session and the students are given a good opportunity to show and develop their talents. It is compulsory for each students to be a member of three clubs which are Social-Service, Sports and Entertainment. Besides these the students are expected to join at least one other club. Enrollment to these clubs must be completed within the stipulated period.
Library :
The library is in the main building of the college and is over 50 yrs old. It has a vast collection of over 16,000 books on reference, non-fiction, fiction and all teaching subject books inclusive of B.Com subjects.
Book Bank :
The college Library maintains a Book Bank and deserving students are allowed to borrow books from it through membership. Backward classes, scheduled castes and those whose parents are not earning more than Rs. 6,000/- per year are given priority.
CLUBS:
There are ten clubs in the College which function under the supervision of the respective Club Advisors.
Sports Club :
The sports plays a vital role in the academic institution, as the overall development of an student depends upon it. Sports rejuvenates mind and body which is much needed for carrying out studies. Every student is encouraged to take part in sports of her choice amongst available ones. The basic requirement of sports is participation; winning or losing are like two sides of a coin.
Social Service Club :
The major objective of this club is to develop a sense of awareness towards service to the society. It also looks after the welfare of the class IV employees and their families.
