Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College has successfully emerged as one of the ancient colleges for women in Kolkata. The college which is affiliated to the University of Calcutta offers undergraduate degree programs. Gopal Krishna Gokhale was the man on whose name this college got this meaning of existence. By naming the college on his name, the college has shown infinite respect and dignity for this well-known educationist and a freedom fighter. Among other pioneering stalwarts, Sarala Ray, popularly known as Mrs. P. K. Ray, stands as a prominent social reformer and educationist, who founded the Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School in 1920. The main objective behind establishing this college was to train women in bringing them to the main streamline of the progressive India. The college offers three year degree course with Honors and Major distinction in Arts and science stream.

1. Cultural Exchange Programs – The college showcases varying talents among students who are participating in several cultural events in different areas namely, music, dance, recitation, painting, etc. The institution also conducts various campaigns on a serious note to make students aware of their social responsibilities through blood donation camps, nutrition awareness camps in slum areas etc.
2. Feedback to Parents - The College essentially keeps a tab on the update process regarding every student to respective parents. It acts as a major source of understanding on the student’s growth.
