School of Postgraduate Studies has been the pioneer in providing quality agricultural postgraduate programmes in the country. The college has been the centre of attraction for agriculture enthusiasts since its very inception in 1933-34 as a colonial college with a team of American and Indian experts preaching the basics of substantive farming. From there on, no blockades could even hamper the growth of this college under the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore and the dedicated efforts of the students and staff alike posted in the top position in the timeline of similar colleges in India. Agriculture being the most saturated industry in the Indian economy needs to be diversified in a manner that the area used is less and the yield per hectare is more as for a densely populated country the factor of land constraint always plays an important role. Research and analysis of different agricultural implications and further improvisations in making them commercially viable have been a sector of keen interest for the college. The college with its dedicated team of preachers ensures that the students catch every beat in the class and can analyze different concepts so as to formulate ideas of their own. Entrepreneurship in Agriculture is a budding sector, and the Institute is working on empowering it.
