Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) Lucknow, is a frontier plant research laboratory of Council of Scientific and industrial Research (CSIR). CIMAP is steering multidisciplinary high quality research in biological and chemical sciences and extending technologies and services to the farmers and entrepreneurof Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAP’s). The objectives behind the establishment of this institute was to co-ordinate and channelize along fruitful directions the present activities in the field of medicinal plants carried out by the various agencies , state governments etc and to encourage cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants in suitable regions of the country and most of all to carry out surveys of resources of medicinal and aromatic plants and to maintain economic statistics of the raw materials as well as finished products.
