Established on May 31, 1952 by the Government of India, Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi helps to preserve the vast cultural heritage of India as well as promotes the various forms of music, dance and drama. The academy is popularly known as the National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama in English. Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, inaugurated this meuseum on January 28, 1953 in a special function held in the Parliament House.
