About College
Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur is a public institution for research and education in engineering, science and technology, located at Howrah in West Bengal. It was established in 1856 as Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur and then its name changed to Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur from 2004 to 2014. In 2014 it was classified as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated it as India's first Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) on 24 August 2014.
- The institute offers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees in Engineering and Architecture as well as Master's and Doctorate degrees in Science and Management in addition to various part-time courses.
- The institute has international collaboration for academics with famous universities like-
University of Pennsylvania (USA), University of Windsor,Canada, University of Cambridge,UK etc
