About College

The Faculty of Law, BHU is on one of the famous institutes for legal education in the country. It is located in the campus of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. It is one of the earliest faculties started in the campus of main university. The Law School was established in the year 1921 and a team of Allahabad High Courts advocates were the faculty members.

                                                        

• Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, Sir Ras Behari Ghosh and Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru were the earlier Dean Members of the Law School.
• The foundation stone of the present Law School building was laid down by Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shashtri (Former Prime Minister of India) on 28th December 1964.
• The Faculty of Law, BHU is one of the 6th law institutes in the country to establish CLINICAL LEGAL SERVICES.
• It is one of the premier law institutes in India which provide excellent legal education with true essence.
• Faculty of Law, BHU played an important role in providing quality legal education in India.
• The college is recognized by the Bar Council of India.
• The building of Law School was constructed just like the Harvard Law School. The entire building has 5 distinct sections namely the Academic Section, Faculty Offices, Seminar Rooms & Library, Moot Court and Well-equipped Classrooms.
• Round-the-clock Wi-Fi Internet Connection is available in the law school campus.
• The main courses provided by the college are 3 Year Full-Time LL.B Programme and 2 Year Full-Time LL.M Programme.
• In addition to these courses, the college also offers education in other law subjects such as Law and Poverty, Law Environment and Law and Population.
• The Faculty of Law, BHU is also a research center for various subjects namely International Law, Law of Taxation, Intellectual Property Rights, Constitutional Law and Personal Law.
• The Law School publishes Law Journal on Annual Basis.
• The Moot Court Society of Law School is fully functional and promotes students to develop advocacy skill theoretically and practically.
• The Law School offers 100% Job Placement in leading law firms.

• Faculty Level Annual Cultural Programme – Srijan
• For LL.B. Students – Two Intra Moot Court Competitions every year

Hostel –

 

There are separate boys and women hostels. All the hostels are neat & clean and provide hygienic foods.

 

• 3 Boys Hostels – Seat Capacity is 239
• Female Students are accommodated in Trivani Hostel and other women hostels of the main university.

 

State of the Art Computer Lab –

 

Computer lab is well-maintained and it helps students to find their study materials and resources for their study. There are number of computers all are connected with super-fast internet service. Printing and Photocopy facilities are also available in the computer lab.

The library of Law School is well-maintain and properly organized. It features –
