About College

The Faculty of Law, Osmania University was inaugurated by the then Chief Justice of India Sri B.P. Sinha in the year 1960. The faculty is also known as University College of Law. The University College Law has a glorious history and date back to 1899. The college is counted amongst the top legal institutes in India for providing high-quality education.

 

• Courses offer by the faculty are 3 Years LL.B, 5 Years B.A., LL.B., Integrated Degree Course and LL.M.  
• In addition to these undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the faculty also offers Postgraduate Diploma in several programs such as Cyber Laws and Taxation & Insurance Laws.
• Admission to 3 Years LL.B Degree Course is through the LL.B. Common Entrance Examination (LAWCET) and intake capacity is 60.
• Admission to 5 Years B.A., LL.B., integrated Degree Course is minimum 45% in 10+2 (for General Category) and 40% in 10+2 (for SC & ST Category). The intake capacity is 60.
• The faculty of law has 116 research scholars on rolls in present.
• Total intake capacity of undergraduate courses is 120. 60 seats for 3 Years LL.B Program and 60 seats for 5 Years LL.B Program.
• More than 116 Ph.D admitted in the faculty till date and among them 83 scholars has awarded Ph.Ds.
• The faculty is listed amongst the TOP LAW COLLEGES in India every year for providing quality & valuable education and good job placement.
• The new building of faculty is well equipped with all modern infrastructures and facilities such as library, computer center, hostel, seminar and moot court halls.
• The faculty has fully functional placement cell to take care for the students to place in eminent law firms after completed their study.

 

 

 

               

 

 

The faculty of law consists of 12 faculty members who are well qualified and has experience for over many years in different areas of legal education. The faculty offers valuable education in different courses such as –

 

• Three Years LL.B
• Five Years B.A. LL.B
• LL.M                  
• Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Laws
• Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation and Insurance Laws
• Ph.D Program

 

To improve the knowledge both theoretically and practically, the Government College of Law also organizes periodically mooting session in Moot Court Hall and Seminars, Conferences & Workshops in Seminar Hall.

 

 

In addition to academics, the faculty also arranges many cultural events, group discussions, guest lecture session and workshops to give up to date knowledge and legal scenario of the present days.

 

 

 

• Moot Court Competition helps students to practice the legal activities.
• Seminars, Workshops, Conferences and other competitions help student to interact with well-known personals like Justice, Lawyers and Judges so that will help in gaining new knowledge.

Library –

 

The Faculty Library is one of the best legal libraries in the state of India. The library has collection has several rare books, national & international journals, reports and thesis. The reading hall features –

• 200 Books on International Humanitarian Laws

 

Foreign Journals available in the library are –

Hostels –

 

Hostel facilities are provided to those students from distant places. Rest hostel accommodation depends upon the merit basis. There is a reserved seat for the physically challenged students. Facilities available in the hostel are –

Moot Court Hall –           

 

To provide quality education and make its students strong, the faculty has well furnished Moot Court Hall. Several competitions are organized to practice law activities during the academic year.

 

Seminar Hall –      

 

The Faculty of Law has a well equipped and fully furnished Seminar Hall which can accommodate 125 people. Modern amenities available in the seminar hall are LCD Projector, Speakers and other Audio Systems.

 

Railway Concessions –   

 

The faculty provides Railway Concessions to its students to go home during the vacation. These concessions are issued only to the Bonafide students.

Scholarships are given to its students under two criteria –

 

 

 

 

 

• SC/ST/LBC Scholarships are given to those students belonging to SC/ST/LBC. These scholarships are funded by the Director of Social Welfare and Director of Tribal Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

 

• Economically Poor People Scholarship – Rs. 250 per month during the period of course is given to economically poor students.
