The Serampore Mission of the Baptist Missionary Society was built on 10th of January 1800.
In July 1818, Carey, Marshman and Ward distributed the plan of Serampore College "for the guideline of Asiatic Christians and different Youths in Eastern Literature and European Science."
While the authors laid incredible attention on the preparation of Christian guides for the congregation in Asia, they had wanted to have the College opening its avenues to all learners independent of their standing, colour and belief.
