Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun was established in 1906. It is increasing its status by providing the best of facilities that is needed for the students to feel really good in an institute.Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun is a premier institution under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE).

Museum:-
- Timber Museum: It is the best-known and most common commercial woods. One hundred and twenty six commercially important species displayed along the walls of the museum provide the visitors an idea on the characteristics of these woods.
- Pathology Museum: It houses 900 exhibits of various economically important tree diseases and timber decays. Exhibits are arranged on the basis of two broad host groups: hardwood and conifers. These are further divided according to the part of the plant affected namely root disease, stem disease and foliage disease.
- Non Wood Forest Products Museum: An exhibit of this museum shows comparison between the conventional resin tapping technique and the newly developed rill method for resin tapping. Samples of turpentine oil and rosin, and a variety of species of bamboo found in the country make a unique collection. This also include samples of miner forest products such as cutch, katha, Lac products, edible products, essential oils, fatty oils, spices, drugs, tans, gums, etc.
- Social Forestry Museum: It depicts the effect of environment without and with trees on productivity and economy of the villages.
- Entomology Museum: It contains about 3,000 exhibits representing the various stages of insect pests and the nature of damage caused by them to seedlings, seed, standing trees, felled timbers, bamboos and also finished products.
Cultural Activities – Students participate in various cultural activities that are needed to showcase their talents and also to prove their cultural mettle. There are various clubs and the students participate in them. These activities are really important because the students can get all the important dais and stage preparations. They shun their stage fear.
Annual Sports – There are various indoor, outdoor games in the campus. The students take part in these games and they are allowed so that they can show their talent. The students are performing very well. Games and sports are very important for the students to develop their competitive nature also. The students are finding the annual sports sessions very exciting, interesting and above all inspiring.

- National Forest Library and Information Centre (NFLIC) is a National Level University Library with a huge compilation of 1.2 lakh books.
- There are 32000 bounded periodicals and 118 Indian periodicals have been subscribed and 150 overseas periodicals have also been subscribed with reprographic facility.
