About College

Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go Anusandhan Sansthan, Mathura was started by the U.P Govt. in 2001 with the basic objective of imparting quality education in veterinary and allied sciences, undertake need based and basic research, integrated education and research and offer efficient extension and advisory services. This institution is a step towards improving animal health and productivity by adapting modern technology including value additions.

• Founded by the UP Government under U.P. Act. Number. 27 of 2001 on 25.10.2001 with the CVSAH, the former U.P. College of VS & AH, in Mathura as its main body. 
• In 1975, it was made a constituent of the freshly started C.S.AUAT, Kanpur
• The College is located on the Agra-Mathura road and is around 5km from railway station of Mathura and 4km away from the brand new bus stand
• The main campus covers an area of 782.32 acres in Mathura Cantonment and roughly 1400 acres in Madhurikund, around 20km away from the main property
• It is about to collaborate with state agriculture and animal husbandry functionaries, Indian council of agriculture research institute related to animal health and production, livestock industries and NGO’s in an attempt to develop resurgent, sustainable profit-oriented, market based production systems for livestock, poultry, fishery and allied sectors.
• Presently, Prof. A. C. Varshney is the Vice-chancellor since February 2013.

Extracurricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities such as declamation quizzes, essay writing competitions, debates and other cultural activities are arranged from time to time under the leadership of a Student Cultural Secretary and Cultural Counselor. There are some other activities that are carried out:

Facilities

Central Instrumentation Laboratory

Although the Veterinary College is more than sixty years old, most of the Departmental laboratories have been recently strengthened and are well equipped for routine teaching and research activities. The Laboratory has facilities like

• High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
• Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS)
• Sonicator
• Ultra-pure water purification system
• Orbital shaking incubator

Library

The University Library provides quality services to the students, teachers & research scholars, supporting teaching research and extension programs of the university.

• The Library has a highly specialized collection of 30,000 documents in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Poultry Science, and other allied subjects
• The collection grows at an average rate of 500 Volumes per year.

Hostel

The University has four well-ventilated neat and clean boy's hostels, three for the undergraduate and one for the post-graduate students.

• Each hostel has been provided with common room facilities comprising of a colored television, newspapers and magazines
• There are also indoor game facilities for Table Tennis, Carom etc.
• Cooperative Mess facility along with supply of milk at subsidized rates from the University owned dairy farm is also provided

ARIS Cell

The University has a well-equipped ARIS Cell. The Cell provides internet connectivity to different Departments of Colleges and Offices of the University as well as the hostel through LAN and wireless access points.

• Through the ARIS Cell, students, researchers and teachers get direct and rapid access to various online journals, especially through CERA made available by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research, New Delhi.
• The website of the University www.upvetuniv.edu.in is hosted and maintained by the ARIS Cell which provides information about all the research, teaching and extension activities of the university
• There is a well-equipped computer laboratory at the ARIS Cell where students can access the internet, do computer related work and can also retrieve information from various resources available online
• The University is also a member of the National Knowledge Network (NKN) and is connected through network connectivity provided by the same.

Sports Infrastructure

There is a large play-ground in front of the main building for outdoor games like cricket, hockey, foot-ball, volley-ball, kabaddi. Kho-kho etc..
