About College

Established in 1889, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) is located at Izztnagar, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh and one of the premier research institutions dedicated to livestock research and development of the region.

  • The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India on the recommendation of University Grants Commission conferred the status of the Deemed to be University
  • India's premier advanced research facility in the field of veterinary medicine and allied branches Administrative control of the Institute is currently under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi
  • Formerly known as Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory, it was renamed in 1925 as Imperial Veterinary Research Institute
  • The institute with faculty strength of more than 275 has a major mandate of research, teaching, consultancy and technology transfer activities
  • It awards degrees to master and doctoral programmes in more than 20 disciplines of veterinary and animal sciences

Research:

  • Evaluation of OmpA and OmpC proteins of Salmonella Typhimurium as a vaccine candidates
  • Evaluation of some new metalloproteases and inhibitors in dog mammary cancer of diagnostic/prognostic importance
  • Identification of alleles in FCGRT and B2M genes and their association with passive transfer of immunity in neonatal buffalo calves
  • Assessment of energy utilization in ruminants fed diets supplemented with saponin containing feeds
  • Capacity building for the molecular diagnosis of tuberculosis in camels

Extra-curricular Activities:

  • Kisan Mela and Pashu Vigyan Pradarshini and other extension activities
  • KVK, ATIC, Helpline, etc. play a key role in technology transfer mission of the institute

Scholarship:

  • IVRI Scholarship is admissible to only those candidates who are admitted through compepitive entrance examination for M.V.Sc./Ph.D. degree programmes
  • Institute Scholarship will be offered to those students who need financial and have good academic record
