About College
The diverse culture and language of India demands setting up educational institutions that could cater to the needs of all the people belonging to any language or region. The Thiruvalluvar University was established keeping in mind this aspect of a greatly diverse nation like India. The university has been thoroughly successful in fulfilling the desires of many people
- It came into existence in October, 2002 under the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002 by the Government of Tamil Nadu at Vellore
- The inauguration ceremony was held on the 16th of October, 2002 when the university was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Honorable Dr. J. Jayalalithaa
- The campus of the university is spread over a huge area of approximately 113 acres of land in Serkkadu close to Vallimalai
- The university has been named after the great Saint of Tamil, Thiruvalluvar and is about 16 kilometers from the main city of Vellore
- The chief objective of TU is to put in 100% effort to make the institution a sacred place of learning where students can concentrate to the fullest
- For enhancing research and development programs, the university has made excellent facilities available to students and scholars
- There are a total of 98 colleges affiliated to this university out of which four are the constituent colleges of the University
- To make the students aware of their social responsibilities and to develop a motivating environment are among the visions of the university
- One important objective of the university is to make women self-reliant and empowered so that they can also contribute towards the country’s growth
- The university follows the principles of Saint Thiuvalluvar deeply and looks to bring out complete individuals who would be able to lead the country to the pinnacle of success
