Sri Ramachandra University, Porur, Chennai was established in the year 1985 as part of the Sri Ramachandra Education & Health Trust by its founder, Shri. N.P.V. Ramasamy Udayar. The Government of India accorded the status of a Deemed University to Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute in September 1994, under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act of 1956 and it is accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC. The institution was founded as a private, not for-benefit self-financing body. The University is dedicated to serving society as an institute of excellence focused on medicinal training, exploration, and other services. Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre (SRMC) is a tertiary care multi-specialty university hospital with around 2280 beds, 100 ICU beds, and 16 operating rooms. The Joint Commission International (JCI) has accredited the University Teaching Hospital, the first teaching hospital in India to obtain such accreditation from JCI. The Blood Bank is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) is one of the largest in Asia with a 10,000 Sq.ft area.
The University campus spread over 175 acres and located in Porur, on the Chennai-Bangalore highway. It is only a twenty-minute drive away from the Chennai International Airport.

Scholarship
The University offers a total No. of 12 Fellowships each carrying a sum of Rs.6,000/- p.m. with a contingency grant of Rs.25,000/ p.a. for a period of 3 years for candidates undertaking research on a full-time basis for the Ph.D. programmes of the University.

What is the Eligibility criteria for MBBS Program?
Admission in MBBS Candidates must have passed H.S.C examination or equivalent examination and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks (in case of SC/ST and OBC 40%) taking together Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology) and a pass in English and Must also have secured not less than 50% marks (in case of SC/ST and OBC 40%) in the Entrance Examination.
