Annamalai University is one of the largest public residential universities in Asia that was founded by the entrepreneur Annamalai Chettiyar in 1929. It was the 1^st private university of India that was later taken over by the Tamil Nadu government in 2013. It is accredited as A Grade University by NAAC and is UGC recognized.

The campus of the college is spread over an area of 950 acres in Annamalai Nagar, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the largest residential universities with 10 faculties and 49 departments.
