About College
Alagappa University, Karaikudi was initiated by a Special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985. It is one of the ventures among the institutions founded by Dr. R.M. Alagappa Chettiar. Altogether 28 constituent colleges are a part of the university. Its main objective is to promote Research, Development and facilitate the sharing of knowledge in various branches of learning.
- It is built in an area of 440 acres of land.
- It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India
- It is a state university reaccredited with an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC)
- It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), as well as a member of the Association of Common Wealth Universities (ACU)
Extracurricular Activities:
- National Service Scheme (NSS) – A total of 4200 students from 21 affiliated colleges under the university are active members of NSS. A 10-day special camp is organized every year which involves Developing infrastructure in the adopted village, tree planting, medical camp, Preserving water resources, women and children's welfare are the important activities undertaken by students in the special camping program.
- Entrepreneurship Development Cell – It aims to create an entrepreneurial culture among students by providing training, exposure to Export Business opportunities, interaction with successful entrepreneurs. It organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness camp, World Entrepreneurship Day in the college.
- Personality Development Cell – It organizes orientation programs with the help of Personality experts to develop various aspects of the personalities of students. Its activities include bringing in experts from industry & professional institute to provide training.
- Social Responsibility & Citizen Cell – It designs the social responsibilities of the institutions in producing employable & leaders for future generations.
- DEEP Club – It conducts special coaching classes for English grammar and sentence construction
- Environmental Awareness Club – It organizes special competitions to spread awareness on the impacts of Global Warming. Its activities include planting trees in the ecologically fragile zone.

Alagappa University are offer Placement service & it was providing the best placement assistance in chennai, most of the people got placed in various organization and MNC. Also Available Hostel & Mess Facility for students. Very committed, with a lot of rural touch and genuine empathy for students requirements and mentoring them to put them in their life path have good Guru Sishya relationship which each one of them till date. Great i had the opportunity to do internship with CITI BANK NA in chennai with a stipend of Rs.2500/-pm those days which helped me to gain confidence and become a career banker later. Many govt scholarships, especially meant for weaker sections were on offer there were many who took loans and studying the Indian bank branch in the University used to meet the banking needs of the needy.

Admission in Alagappa University for MBA Student Must be complete any graduate degree in 10+2+3 pattern. An entrance test will be conducted by Alagappa University to select deserving candidates for these courses. Shortlisted students on the basis of marks of entrance will be called for the Group Discussion & Interview. Marks obtained in the qualifying degree will also be considered for final merit list preparation.
