But it has been nicely dealt with through the establishment of a number of universities being established all over the country among which the Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University deserves a special mentioning. It was established in the year 2008.

• The Vinayaka Missions Trust of Salem, Tamil Nadu took the initiative to establish a university in the north eastern part of the country i.e. Sikkim
• The university campus is located in the beautiful state of Sikkim which is known for its natural beauty and its closeness with nature providing ideal ambiance for learning
• It came into existence by an act passed by the State Assembly of the Government of Sikkim known as the Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University Act No. 11 of 2008
• The chief objective behind forming the university is to create more and more opportunities for the students to avail quality education
• The main areas of study that the university focuses on include medical, paramedical, engineering and architecture and so on.
• VMSU also takes pride in having highly reputed faculty comprising of experts and professionals in various fields
• One of the prime objectives of the university is to establish a number of study centers, examination centers and campuses in the State of Sikkim
• Collaborating with different other colleges and universities, research institutes and other industries so as to give tremendous exposure to the students is another aim of the university
