About College

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) was established in the year 1987 with the aim of providing education to the poor and the backward classes alike. It provides distance education in various fields

  • VMOU is the third oldest Open University in India
  • The Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University was established as an amalgamation of two correspondent study institutions, namely, the Institute of Correspondence Studies and Continuing Education Jaipur and the College of Correspondence Studies, Udaipur
  • The Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University was previously known as Kota University. The university was renamed under the Gazette notification by the Govt. of Rajasthan in the year 2002
  • In its effort to improve and update the quality of study and research, the university always tries to build up collaborations with various other open universities of the country
  • To ensure the proper administration of the university, there are a number of bodies including the Board of Management, Academic Council and the Planning Board
  • The university offers around 80 courses at various levels including the graduate, post graduate, certificate and Ph.D
  • Almost 35000 students take admission to the university every year

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University also provides a special support service for students within the university campus.

Student Advisory Cell

The University has a special advisory cell at its headquarters. All forms and admission documents are issued from this cell. The cell also contains an array of promotional literature and solves all problems and grievances of students.
