About College
Banasthali University was founded in the year 1935 by Pandit Hiralal Shastri (the first Chief Minister of state of Rajasthan and former secretary in the home and foreign department) and Ratan Shastri as Banasthali Vidyapith in memory of The campus is Situated in the Tonk district in the Indian state of Rajasthan, Banasthali is one of the reputed institutions for higher academic learning. The University campus has a centrally based location and can be reached from most parts of Rajasthan using public transportation services
- In 1943, the undergraduate courses were introduced
- In 1983, the university was granted the status of a deemed university by the UGC
- In 2010, the ‘Review Committee of Ministry of HRD ’appreciated the overall efforts of Vidyapith in areas of Institutional Governance, Academic Achievements, Research, Student Progression, Infrastructure, etc. and categorized Banasthali Vidyapith under ‘Category A’ list of ‘Institutions deemed to be university’
- In 2011, Banasthali University re-accredited with ‘Grade A’ level in 2011 by NAAC
- All India Universities Survey by AC Nielsen-India Today in 2012 ranked Vidyapith at 1st position
- Banasthali University is one of the deemed universities in the country of India. It has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It has been awarded a rank of five stars and is, therefore, an institution to apply to in the region in order to pursue advanced academic learning
Extra-Curricular:
- Sports- College has Laxmi Bai maidan where activities like a parade and annual fairs are organized, Vidula Maidan where games like hockey, volleyball, basketball, tennis, yoga, etc, are played Veer Bala Maidan where horse riding is conducted for which there are 41 horses. Swimming and shooting facilities also exist for interested learners at the university as well as for university officials and their dependents. The swimming pool is of a very large size and several people can be accommodated in it at a given time
- Inter-University Competitions- The University teams participate in various Inter-University competitions like Basketball, Hockey, Badminton, Table tennis, Kho-Kho, Handball and Shooting, Archery, Swimming, Chess, Cricket, Tennis, Judo, Volleyball
- Women Festival Competitions- There are various competitions like Hockey, Kho-kho and Kabbadi, Archery in which many girls participate
- Banasthali Seva Dal- It organizes the camps for girl guides and the eligible guides are selected to take part in state and national level camps. A number of students from the University have been honored with the “Rashtrapati Award”. Two guides have been selected to attend the international events of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts at Pune
- AirStrip- There are a licensed air strip of 50,191,418 sq. meters which are used for training the students in gliding and flying. A regular flying club, BVGFC (Banasthali Vidyapith Gliding and Flying Club) has started on January 9, 2009
- FM Radio Station- A ‘Community FM Radio Station’ known as ‘Radio Banasthali’ broadcasts educational and entertainment programs locally recorded by the students and staff of Banasthali

Internet Facility |
Banasthali University has a 2 Mbps leased line Internet connectivity from BSNL, Jaipur, 4 Mbps from VSNL, 4 Mbps from Reliance Info, and another 1 Gbps link to the university under the NMEICT project. Also, the institute runs a lab of 70 Internet-ready nodes to provide internet access to all students, researchers, and faculty of Banasthali University. |
