About College

Berhampur University is situated in the town of Ganjam in Orissa. It was established on 2nd January 1967. Courses in post graduate study are provided at the University and it is home to as many as twenty academic departments with a substantive student population here.

• The departments of electronics and mass communication at the university are particularly well known and are known to draw students from all over the country.
• The innovative teaching methods are best at university that faculty members take recourse to in order to impart knowledge in a successful manner.

Highlights

• The University is centre for Regional Studies. This is a research centre i.e. dedicated primarily to the study of Bhanja literature in Orissa. It is visited by academics from all over the country.
• The university is also famous for its Canadian study centre. The purpose of the centre is to foster the study of indo Canadian exchanges and cultures. It is definitely one of the most critical thinking of centers in the University and hosts scholars from India and abroad from time to time.
• There is a Women’s Studies Research Centre at the University which came into existence in the year 1988. It was sponsored for five years by the University Grants Commission of India, a grant which was extended till the year 2000 and is now a full time study centre at the University.
• The computer centre at the University has been operating since the year 1986 and has been helping students to undertake practical studies and research in the subjects that they specialize in at the University. No doubt smooth and easy access to the internet is one of the key features of the computer centre. 

Alumni:

There are student alumni functioning in the different P.G. departments to have a good relationship with the old & present students benefit a lot from this. Annual alumni functions are organized to provide a platform for interaction between pass-out students. The active alumni associations are Zoology and IRPM.
