Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics popularly known as Gokhale Institute is one oldest research and training institutes of economics. It was established under the aegis of Servants of India Society. Institute’s constant efforts towards training and researching in the field of Economics established it as an emerging center of Excellence.

Research Work: The main areas of research in the institutes are:
Research Centers:
Agro Economics Research Centre: The Union Ministry of Food and Agriculture established this centre in the year 1954. Centre has completed over 200 studies in the various fields of agriculture. This center is accredited for the pioneering research on the economics of irrigation.
Population Research Centre:
This centre was established in the year 1979 in order to help Govt. of India to conduct demographic surveys. Centre conducts research activities in population studies and to help Govt. in creation of family planning programme.
Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy: It is multi disciplinary research centre developed in 2008 under the UGC scheme. The main objective of center to conceptualize and problematize discrimination, inclusion and exclusion based on caste and religion.
Input- Output Research Association: This centre is recognized by various national and international organizations.
Library: Library has 13480 books and 204 back volumes of journals in its collection. Library also possesses 260000 of documents. Library also receives 445 periodicals.
Hostels: There are totally two hostels in this campus, one hostel for girls and another one for boys. The girl’s hostel was specially designed by a famous architect name Christopher Charles.
