University of Kerala was founded as the University of Travancore in 1937 as one of the first 16 Universities in India. The earliest origins of the University may be traced back to two institutions of modern learning in Kerala, the University College, Thiruvananthapuram and the Trivandrum Observatory. The University has over 150 affiliated colleges. At present, the university has sixteen faculties and forty one departments of teaching and research in addition to study centres and other departments. Teaching, research, and knowledge extension are the mandate of the departments

What is the admission criteria for B.Tech ?
Admission criteria - Students must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or 10+2 Standard by the recognized university with 50% in Mathematics and 50% in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Bio-technology or Computer Science or Biology collectively. Students must have passed diploma in Engineering awarded by the Board of Technical Education, Kerala or equivalent examination after undergoing an institutional course of at least three years securing a minimum of 50 % marks in the final diploma examination.

University of Kerala is recognized by University Grants Commission and accredited to National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
