Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University was established in the year 2010 by the Govt. of Karnataka. University was named after the great emperor Krishnadevaraya. University main campus is located in Jnana Sagara 8 km away from Bellary city.  University has 100 colleges running under its affiliation. University campus is spread over 100 acres of land. University has two centres one at Jnana Sagara which is main campus and has 14 postgraduate departments and other at Jnana Sarovara which has 10 post graduate courses with good hostel facilities. University offers various courses to as many as 43000 students

Facilities:

Library: The university library is located in the main building of university. Library has over 10000 books and 25 computer systems connected internet facilities. Library also subscribes 90 national and international journals.

Auditorium: University has well equipped auditorium with a seating capacity of 150 persons.

Hostel: The University has on campus girls hostel. A new SC/ST boy’s hostel is under construction stage. For the time Social Welfare Department has provided hostel for SC/ST students. At PG center, Nandihalli accommodation is provided for all students.

Computer Center: The University has in campus computer centers in library as well as in few departments.  The University has also provides internet facility to individual staff member.

 Festivals: Youth Festival: It is annual cultural fest of the university in which various students from various institutes participate in various cultural activities and competitions.
