Sidho-Kanho-Birsha (SKB) University was established in 1992 by an Act of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, the University has been conferred.

• SKU is located in the tribal dominated Santal Parganas, near Dumka in Jharkhand
• The university was recognized by and affiliated to the Association of Indian Universities on 6 May 1993. It was granted recognition under Section 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956 in May 2006
• The University has of state of the art infrastructural facilities with world class academic facilities
• It is located in a sprawling campus in Dumka, SKU boasts of a vast array of facilities for honing the academic skills of its students
