Nilamber Pitamber University was established by the Jharkhand State Legislation under the Jharkhand State University Act, 2000. The university was established in 2009 in the Jharkhand state of India to fulfill the educational needs of the Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar district people

• The university offers 15 Post-graduate, undergraduate, technical and vocational programmes in various fields like Dental, Journalism, Engineering, and B.Ed
• The university also offers Distance Education Programme
• The chief purpose of establishing this university was to cater to the long awaiting needs of the underprivileged population of the neglected area
• It is on a mission to become one of India’s premier institutions of higher education and also set an example of being a university of repute even in the remotest of areas
• All these colleges spread over the entire districts of the state of Jharkhand are under the geographical jurisdiction of the NPU
• The university takes pride in having an extremely committed and dedicated faculty in each department who make sure that the students are looked after with utmost attention
• It has a vision to achieve excellence and set new trends in the world of education not only in India but abroad as well
• Most of the departments in the university are presently administered on the G. L. A. College campus in Medininagar having an area of over 86 acres.
