Gujarat Vidyapith (GVP) was established in the year 1920 by Mahatma Gandhi. It changed into a deemed university in 1963. Gujarat Vidyapith is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for higher education programs. It was started as Rashtriya Vidyapith (National Institute of University Education) and was the starting of the Non-cooperative Movement.
