Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University is a state university which focuses on the teaching and promotion of Sanskrit. University was established in the year 1961. Maharaja Kameshwar Singh donated his palace to Govt. of Bihar for the construction of university that can promote Sanskrit. University has its campus situated in Laxmishwar Vilas Palace in Darbhanga. University is recognised by UGC.

Manuscript Collection: University has unique collection of manuscripts on epics, vyakarana, philosophy, dhramashastra, etc. University has 5562 rare manuscripts including six illustrated manuscripts of Ramayana, Srimadbhagavata, Gitagovinda and Durga Saptasi. It has so far documented 2000 manuscripts, covering 49 institutions and 206 private collections in 13 districts.
Library: Library has 15156 volumes of books in its collection. It also has 3836 research papers. It also subscribes to various Sanskrit and literature journals and magazines.
Hostels: University has good facilities for accommodation for the students in the campus. There are 4 hostels namely:

- Vaschpati Hostel
- Ladies Hostel
