The National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh was inaugurated on 18th Aug 2010 as a member of a group of ten new NITs. These new NITs were established as centres of excellence in technical education to combat the growing need of technological professionals in India as well as in the World.
The Institute has been through many trials since its establishment in 2010; but ultimately has triumphed over all challenges and is thriving today with more than 350 students on roll and many distinguished members of faculty as well as a good many numbers of competent administrative personnels.
The campus of NITAP is temporarily housed in Yupia, the district headquarters of the Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. Yupia is around 18 km from Itanagar, the capital of Arunchal Pradesh, and is around 11 km from Naharlagun,which is the twin capital town.
The permanent campus of NITAP is to be situated at Jote, Papum Pare district, Arunachal Pradesh. With steady progress, the setting up of the infrastructure and developing it into a proper campus is estimated to take a few years.
Social Activity ROSHNI :
Roshni is a social activity for integrated and comprehensive social development for the deprived people of the Arunachal Pradesh. It helps the local people of Arunachal Pradesh by various social activities, especially in education development and awareness. It is running by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.

Tech Fest :
Students are encouraged to participate and learn from a wide array of cultural programs. Literary events, dramatic competitions, and art and quiz contests challenge the students' creativity, language skill, self-confidence, and alertness besides creating a lively atmosphere on the campus and giving students a golden opportunity to discover their hidden talents.
Youth Follie, the cultural fest of the Institute is organized every year to promote the creativity, talent, and management skills of the students other than academics. |
Addovedi, the technical festival of the Institute is celebrated with a wide array of technical activities to enhance and motivate the students’ interest in technological know-how. It includes innovative com-petitions, workshops, lectures and demos. |
Atulyam is also another fest organized by the College. |
The institute has planted a solar plant of capacity 100KW from which the college is getting an uninterrupted power supply. Due to this solar plant, the college has minimized its electricity bill to come down to Rs 0.
