About College

College of Home Science, Bikaner was established in 1988. It is affiliated to Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner. This college is imparting institutional training in Home Science especially in north-West zone of Rajasthan. The Home Science in SAU’s preparing girls to meet the need of rural and urban families especially the effective role of women as contributor to food production and environmental conservation and enhancement of human resources. The objective of the college is to develop an appreciation in a holistic manner for rural life, its problems and ways for improvement and to develop and apply basic concepts of Home science to everyday living. The mission of the college is to develop the scientific approach and stimulate a desire for conducting scientific research and its transfer to family living.

Research

• An ICAR ad-hoc research project on incidences of Vitamin A deficiency in relation to the dietary intake in the daily diets of urban and rural tribal pre-school children (3-6) years in selected areas of Rajasthan(1990-93)

• Action research project on "Prevention and eradication of malnutrition among women and children in Bikaner district - NGO Networking" being funded by UNICEF for the year 2000-2001

• An intervention project on "An intervention project on parenting with special reference to early childhood development in Bikaner district - NGO Networking" being funded by UNICEF for the year 2000-2001

• Development and quality evaluation of value added products based on pearl millet grown under conventional and organic production system from Sept. 2005 to Sept. 2008 funded by Directorate of Agriculture Government of Rajasthan

• A project "DBT's Bioresource complex for women", funded by DBT, Govt. of India, 2006-09
