About College

Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir is a residential autonomous college under University of Calcutta with CPE (college with potential for excellence) status. Ramakrsihna Mission Vidyamandir is an all boy’s college established in 1941 as an intermediate arts college to fulfill the vision of Swami Vivekananda of developing students into worthy students of country with a sense of pride in their traditions. Ramkrishna Mission Vidyamandir is accredited by the NAAC( National Assessment and Accreditation Council),India and awarded a grade A+ with institutional score of 93.5% and ranks 43 in India today’s list of Top Science College in India.

Grants to Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir are provided by government but it is managed by Ramkrishna Mission, Belur Math.

 

 

Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir focuses on spiritual and value oriented training with discipline as a key factor in achieving it.

 

 

• 8 undergraduate courses are offered by Science department and 8 by Humanities and Social Science department.
• Post Graduation is offered in Mathematics, applied Chemistry, Bengali, Sanskrit and Philosophy.
• Certificate and add on courses are offered in different vocational fields.
• Examinations are conducted according to semester system.
• Several seminars and lectures are organized from time to time by UGC and concerned departments.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:

BACHELOR OF ARTS

• Students with 50-60% aggregate marks at intermediate level in top four subjects are eligible to apply for different courses with each course having different cutoff.
• Written test and Interview are conducted to select eligible candidates.
• Following reservation will hold for eligible students 22% S.C. 6% S.T. 3% physically handicapped.

• Students with 50-70% aggregate marks at intermediate level in top four subjects are eligible to apply for different courses with each course having different cut-off

• Written test and Interview are conducted to select eligible candidates.

MASTER OF ARTS

• Male students who have secured 50% in respective subject may apply for admission test.
• SC/ST/PH reservation as per Government rules.
• Final selection will be on the basis of Viva Voce marks.

MASTER OF SCIENCE

• Male students who have secured 50-55% in respective subject may apply for admission test.
• SC/ST/PH reservation as per Government rules.
• Final selection will be on the basis of Viva Voce marks

 

 

 

• Departmental and hostel tours are organized on a yearly basis for practical learning experience.
• A separate unit of senior NCC has been in existence in Vidyamandir. Training is imparted to the cadets within the college premises under the supervision of qualified training officers.
• National Service Scheme (NSS) unit was established in 1970 in the college with a view of personality development of students through community service.
• Vidyamandir publishes an annual magazine called ‘Vidyamandir Patrika’ giving a platform to students to explore their creative, literary and photography skills.

Ramkrishna Mission Vidyamandir has a separate two storied library, Bikash Bhavan satiating the hunger for knowledge of students and teachers.

• Bikash Bhavan houses over 55,000 books, 2500 journals.
• College also hold vast E resource of 50,000+ online books,2400+ online journals
• Library is fully automated in its cataloging part.
• Most of the houses keeping operations of library are computerized.

Hostel

Ramkrishna Mission Vidyamandir is a fully residential college with its hostels being an integral part of all round education imparted by it. Hostels are run on the principle of ancient gurukuls.

• There are six hostels with an approximate capacity of 650
• Mess and dining complex have a separate two storied building.
• Table tennis tables and carom boards are available in each hostel.

Sports

• Adequate playgrounds for cricket, football, volleyball and badminton are available.
• Intra and Inter college tournaments are organized from time to time.

Gymnasium is equipped with multi gym and instructor is present to teach yoga asanas.

• Monthly charges for undergraduate students’ ranges from 2100 to 3000 depending on course enrolled.
• Annual charges for undergraduate students’ ranges from 7,700 to 9,700 depending on course enrolled.
• Monthly charges for postgraduate students’ ranges from 2400 to 3300 depending on course enrolled.
• Annual charges for postgraduate students’ ranges from 8300 to 10,300 depending on course enrolled.
• Fees mentioned are sum of hostel and academic charges.

 

 

 

 

Financial assistance in the form of monthly stipends is provided to needy and meritorious students. Such assistance is provided to approximately 40% of students ranging from 100 to 1600rs.
