IRMA was founded in 1979 with the motto of rural development through different programmees.IRMA is located in Anand district of Gujrat. Born out of a maverick's dream IRMA is, today, at the forefront of professionalising the development of India's rural sector.
IRMA provides management training, support and research facilities to students committed to rural development; in this process it has brought within its ambit several co-operatives, non-government organisations, government development agencies, international development organisations and funding agencies.
The Institute's campus is spread over a landscaped 60 acre site adjacent to the Anand Agricultural University . The campus is fully residential equipped with students' hostels, mess, lecture halls, seminar rooms, library, faculty and administrative offices, auditorium, executive training and development centre, faculty and staff housing, dispensary, and other support facilities. The IRMA staff co-operative store caters to the residents' daily necessities.

Publication Program :
IRMA’s publication program is a response to the need of charting a unique path in rural management, a rare discipline defined and developed by IRMA. The Institute started this program managed by the Committee on Research Publications and Seminars (CORPAS) to facilitate the dissemination of the Institute's research work.It was realized that the research writings of the faculties in the initial phase, emerging out of research and consultancy projects was of three types namely research reports, case studies and workshop reports. Thus, these became the first three series of publications of CORPAS.

IRMA Organic Community Farm: pilot project floated in July 2012 by IRMA students. |
Ektanagar Initiative: an initiative to showcase the creativity of Ektanagar children. |
ISEC: IRMA’s Social Entrepreneurship Cell aimed at promoting sustainable, ecologically-friendly and the equitable socio-economic development of rural people through professional management. |
Terra Firma: a biannual magazine published by the students of IRMA providing an opportunity to the students to explore topics relevant to their interest while giving vent to their creative urge at the same time. |
